Service Description

Here’s what you’ll learn in this 4 week sewing class: Week 1 & 2: Review of the sewing machine & basic sewing, French seams, pinning, pressing, pivoting, tube turning, trimming a seam allowance, rotary cutting, boxed corners, edge stitching, sewing a casing, pressing/sewing your own “ribbon”. Week 3 & 4: Topstitching, cutting and sewing on a short bias edge, measuring and pressing to hem, sewing divided pockets, using gathering stitches to form a ruffle, using fusible interfacing, using hardware. Bringing your own (working) sewing machine and manual is highly encouraged so you can get comfortable with your machine, or use one of ours. Supplies You Need to Provide (bring your own or purchase in the studio) *ALL week 1 materials are provided! Week 2 - Drawstring Bag: 3 fat quarters 1/8 yard fabric for drawstring OR 2 yards grosgrain ribbon, twill tape. Week 3 - Simple Apron: 1 yard cotton (mid-weight, like duck), denim, or twill for main body 1/2 yard same or contrasting fabric for pockets and strings Week 4 - Wristlet Ruffle Key Fob: 5" x 13" fabric for strap (quilting type cotton) 2.5" x 22" strip for ruffle
